Pulan folk costume originates in Pulan county in Southwest China's Tibet autonomous region. It continues to be a traditional garment worn at celebrations for over a millennium.
The most exquisite of all Pulan garments is called the "Peacock Costume" and only seven are known to exist, preserved by seven local families. Weighing 25 kilos, this unique costume is usually decorated with rare metals and jewels, like gold, silver, agate, turquoise, coral and pearls.
