The numerous Dehua porcelain factories today make figures and tableware in modern styles. Chen started learning her craft at 15 years old. Now she has become an award-winning artist, creating an original style of her own.
In her mind, making porcelain wares is like paper-cutting on the argil, which calls for precision and superb skills. After working for 40 years, now Chen hopes her son, a university graduate in sculpture, will carry on the family tradition and introduce white porcelain to people outside China.
