Barkol scenic spot, with the clear blue lake and surrounding grassland, becomes a major tourist destination in summer.
Located in Kumul of Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, Barkol Lake is one of the biggest tourism highlights around the area. It is a lagoon, like most of inland lakes filled by springwaters, stretching over 800 square kilometers at its peak.
During recent years, the popularity of Barkol has increased thanks to the continuing governmental efforts in infrastructure and publicity.
