The Beijing International Tourism Expo kicked off at the China National Convention Center on June 15. This year's event has attracted roughly 1,000 tourism institutes, travel agencies and agents from more than 80 countries and regions.
Travel agencies have rolled out thousands of products that would be offered to the public at rates lower than the market price during the three-day expo, said Jia Limei, an official from the Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development.
Special pavilions featuring tourism targeted at seniors, health preservation, hot spring and sports experiences have been set up to cater to various needs. Last year's expo saw 6.3 billion yuan ($980 million) in trade volume, Jia said.
