China's burgeoning movie market has seen a growing number of coming-of-age romances in the past four years.

Crying Out in Love, based on a Japanese best-selling novel Scorates in Love, is the latest such flick.

The Kyoichi Katayama novel on which the film is based sold 3.5 million copies in Japan in 2004, surpassing Haruki Murakami's Norwegian Wood to be the most popular romance that year.

The movie, which is making waves online, has internet sensation Hao Meimei (Good Sisters) singing the film's theme song, I Love Summer.

Starring Ou Hao and Zhang Huiwen, the feature-length romance will hit Chinese mainland theaters on Aug 26.

The film is directed by South Korea's Kwak Jae-young.
