A journey into prairie culture

Updated: 2011-08-05 16:15

Cooperation and exchanges between the metropolitan and prairie cultures is crucial to develop the Mongolian culture.

Bai Yugang, Vice-president of Foreign Cultural Exchange Association of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, expressed his wish to introduce the prairie culture outside by using commercial and benefit performances and exhibitions at the forum. “Hong Kong and Macao could offer Inner Mongolian managers of cultural industry more opportunities for training in their institutions with advanced cultural idea, international management mode and talents of high level,” he said. Bai especially proposed the issue of cultivating talents. The suggestions were well-received by Zeng Decheng, who considered cooperation on cultivating talents and brands. He believes the production of programs would benefit audiences with more well-known programs, performing groups, actors and actresses.

At the symposium, Chen Yonghua and Shen Ping, who is the chairman of the Hong Kong Water Colors Research Society, recommended more attention should be paid to copyright when developing the prairie culture.

Chen Yonghua emphasized more on Mongolian music: “Musical works are protected by copyright in Hong Kong where music royalty has developed into an industry with an income of 170 million for Music Copyright Society of Hong Kong last year, ranking first in Asian-Pacific region. Inner Mongolia, who holds multiple folk music, can gain profits and protect their unique musical heritage if they invite copyright and royalty mechanism.”

Shen Ping spoke highly of the Culture Department of Inner Mongolian autonomous region for they hung many photos of artists who came from Inner Mongolian. It is a way to show respect for artists and should be taken into consideration by Hong Kong and Macao. Historical paintings in the Inner Mongolia Museum and Temuchin Tomb impressed him. “These historical paintings are very precious for the artists worked hard on gathering materials and creating,” Shen said. “I saw frescos on the Temuchin Tomb carefully, finding no signatures or names of painters, showing a lack of respect for artists.”

“A Journey into Prairie Culture” provides us with a unique experience into the brilliant prairie culture as well as giving participants the chance to hear advice from the metropolises of Hong Kong and Macao. It is finally contributing to the development of the prairie culture and the culture industry.
