Updated: 2011-08-05 16:15

“A Journey into Prairie Culture” came to a smooth close in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia autonomous region July 30.

“A Journey into Prairie Culture”, the seventh session of a serial activities created for cultural exchanges between Hong Kong, Macao and the mainland by the Ministry of China, has been successfully held for 6 sessions in Sichuan, Hebei, Heinan, Guizhou and Qingha. It won popularity among artists and experts from Hong Kong and Macao. Beginning July 25, the session was heavy with participants including officials, artists and experts from Hong and Macao, as well as members from the China Federation of Literature and Art, Chinese Writer Association, cultural institutions, groups and state level companies. The various activities included an introduction conference, cooperation forum, a symposium and a visit to the Mongolia Museum. It helped visitors acquire a deeper understanding of the prairie culture.

During the forum and symposium, artists and experts from Hong Kong and Macao focused on cultural inheriting and made practical suggestions.

Nature and Tradition, the Focal Point of Developing Prairie Culture

The grand sense, unique history and arts of Inner Mongolia presented the visitors with an honest, passionate, strong and enterprising impression of its culture.

Concerning the essence of prairie culture, participants agreed natural characteristics and tradition are the focal points for cultural inheriting and development, instead of pursuing economic benefits.

He Jiping, Chairwoman of Hong Kong Screenewriter’s Guild, suggested “beauty is in nature”. She believed the most beautiful art comes from nature as beauty is in nature. Artistic creation yearns for nature, which is what we lack. Nature is a sanitarium in which vulgar thoughts can be washed away. Going against it would cause loss of art, turning truth into lies.
