The results of China’s second Jieli Cup Jin Bo Childhood Literature Award and Jieli Cup Cao Wenxuan Children’s Fiction Award were announced recently, with nine works for each award.
The Jin Bo Childhood Literature Award went to the fairy tale Little Mouse Meets A Fox by Shen Xiwu, the picture book Who Broke Wind? by Gong Ruping and Wang Zumin, the children’s story Ah! Little Potato by Mao Lulu, the children’s prose A Million Letters To Mom by Mu Ye, and the nursery rhymes 24 Solar Terms by Xue Weimin.
The Cao Wenxuan Children’s Fiction Award went to the short story Qing Wan by Deng Xi and the novella Pretend To Be Blown Away By The Wind by Chen Mengmin.
The events officially opened to the public on June 6, 2018, and contributions were closed on June 6, 2020. Chinese writers of children’s literature from home and abroad actively signed up for the competitions.
Compared to works of last session, the quality of this year’s works were much better, said an official in charge of the prize appraisal office. Writers of this year were mainly aged 26 to 45, accounting for more than 60 percent of the total number of participants. This is consistent with the contest’s original intention of cultivating and promoting young and middle-aged writers.
The award ceremony will be held at the Museum of Modern Chinese Literature in early December 2020, according to the authorities.
