The online summer camp “Telling Stories of Your Family”, sponsored by the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and organized by the Anhui province, was held on Tuesday. Forty teenagers learned about Chinese culture and shot videos to share their feelings and learning through the camp.

The camp lasted 15 days, with all campers participating in WeChat groups. Each day campers read stories on WeChat and finished a small task, so that campers can interact with each other online and share ideas about stories. The courses covered a wide range, such as the Four Great Classics of China, idioms and fables, tales of celebrities and stories of the fight against COVID-19.

“Because my Chinese is not very good, it is difficult to learn by myself,” said one of the campers Yao Simei, who is interested in Chinese culture and history. “With the help of teachers, I can easily understand the meaning of each story. It is a pity that I cannot experience Chinese stories by myself because of the epidemic. Though the camp’s form was changed, the eagerness of learning Chinese was same.”

Wei Guanglei, executive president of Thai-Anhui Fellow Township Association and president of Thai-China Education Exchange Center, said: “In recent years, we have successfully organized students from related schools to participate exchange activities which prompted the cultural exchange and mutual understanding between Thai-Anhui teenagers. This online camp also has attracted a lot of attention from Chinese teenagers in Thailand.”
