The Second International Children’s Postcard Painting Competition titled “I Love Pandas” was launched online in China on April 1, sponsored by China Post Group Co., Ltd. and organized by China Post Advertising Media Co., Ltd.
Children from many countries and staff of a panda-themed post office took part in the online opening ceremony. They expressed their encouragement to the people in Wuhan, China and the whole world.
Liu Zhong, initiator of the competition and director of the China Artists Association, taught the children how to draw pandas and drew an ink painting with twelve Chinese Zodiacs and pandas. The painting was called Together in the Same Boat, meaning people fight together to overcome difficulties. China Post has created a postcard product based on the painting, which will be sold in a limited quantity of 100,000.
This competition invites children from 4 to 18 to create works following the theme of "I Love Pandas". The deadline is August 31, and the awards ceremony will be in October.
This series of competitions began in 2019. Taking the opportunity of the 150th anniversary of the scientific discovery of pandas and the 150th anniversary of the birth of postage postcards, the first contest collected nearly 2,100 pieces from 28 countries and regions on five continents, including China, Myanmar, Ukraine and the UK. Finally, 49 sets of works were jointly selected as winners by experts in the fields of art and education, both in China and abroad.
