Organized by the ASEAN-China Centre and the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, a 2020 New Year’s gala took place in Chengdu from Dec 28 to 30, 2019. Officials from the ASEAN-China Centre attended the show.

The vice-mayor of Chengdu pointed out in his welcome speech that Chengdu and ASEAN have continuously deepened their exchanges under the Belt and Road Initiative and developed extensive cooperation in the economy and trade, tourism, culture and education.

Chen Dehai, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre, said in his speech that the ASEAN-China strategic partnership cannot be improved without efforts from all sides of society and the active participation of teenagers from both ASEAN and China. Enhancing teen communication and increasing friendship between the sides are of great significance for regional development.

The ambassador of Thailand said that ASEAN and China pay great and close attention to cultural and educational exchanges. He believed that this gala would bring ASEAN and China closer and deepen cooperation for mutual benefit and win-win results.
