Speech convention in Singapore comes to an end
On Feb 3, the 10th “VipJrCup • GoodTalk (global village) Children and Youth Bilingual Speech Conference” has successfully concluded. At the meeting, four students — Liu lijia, Xiong Siyuan, Gu Jiahan and Shi Linqi — all received prizes, and 12-year-old Liu won first place. They confidently communicated with students from all over the world and showed their ability to tell stories in English.
This conference has been held annually since 2009, attracting tens of thousands of students from dozens of schools across the country, covering Shanghai, Nanjing, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Xi 'an and other cities. VipJr undertook the online selection portion of the competition, choosing 61 awards including most powerful speech, most popular and most potential, as well as candidates who were qualified to participate in the overseas exchange competition in Singapore.
With their solid English-speaking abilities, Liu lijia, Xiong Siyuan and Gu Jiahan stood out from more than 320 competitors in the Singapore semi-finals and entered the finals smoothly. In the final competition, they cooperated with each other and performed the final proposition together under the guidance of professional teachers.
As a student of vipJr, Liu not only achieved great results at the speech conference, but also served as a bilingual host of the “VipJr x MoXingXiu International Children’s Festival for Art of Modeling Education”. "I met many friends from other countries during the trip in Singapore," he said. "Through communicating and learning with them, I not only improved my oral English, but learned about many things about different countries, which benefited me a lot."
It is worth mentioning three students who participated in the Singapore trip were born and raised in non-first-tier cities. Generally speaking, children living in first-tier cities have more opportunities to go abroad to participate in speeches and exchanges. However, online education enterprises like VipJr are gradually changing the unbalanced development of domestic education and promoting the fairness of education.
