The second Youth Friendly Exchange Visits between China and Laos began in Kunming, capital of Southwest China’s Yunnan province, on Oct 15. Schools in Laos, including Liaodu Public School and Wanxiang Middle School, and schools in Yunnan, such as the High School Affiliated to Yunnan Normal University, Kunming No.1 High School, Mile No.4 Middle School, signed The Agreement of Establishing Friendly School Relationships. And both sides decided on regular visits to promote the communication and exchanges between two countries.

On the occasion of 40th anniversary of reform and opening-up, Foreign Affairs Office of Yunnan Provincial People‘s Government invited a Laos youth delegation consisting of representatives of excellent students of Wanxiang High school and Liaodu Public school to Yunnan to participate in the second Youth Friendly Exchanges Visits. Lead by Khomtan Somvong，deputy director-general of Laos Ministry of Sports, the delegation made a visit from Oct 14 to 19, aiming to promote greater connectivity and to strengthen cooperation between two countries.

Haokun, deputy director of Foreign Affairs Office of Yunnan Provincial People’s Government, said that the number of foreign students from Laos in Yunnan has reached more than 5,000, and over 6,000 Laos students have returned to Laos to make great contributions to their hometown after finishing their education. He said that it’s essential for countries to strengthen exchanges and deepen the cooperation of education.

Khomtan Somvong, the leader of the delegation, said that China and Laos has established close cooperation relationship in many fields. This September, Laos Students Association of Returning from Yunnan, China has been set up, an important platform for the communication of culture and education between two countries. “We hope that Yunnan government will provide more scholarships and more opportunities for Laos students to pursue their further education in China.”
