The "One World Football Program" donation ceremony was held in the central primary school in Gujiang Bage County, Hotan City, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region on June 21, 2016. Jing Dunquan, Vice Chairman of China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF), director of the regional sports bureau, mayor of Hotan City, and president of Xinjiang Soong Ching-ling Football School attended the event with other officials and guests. The event donated altogether 11700 footballs to Xinjiang, covering over 200,000 students in 501 primary and secondary schools in 21 counties and cities in Xinjiang.

Vice Chairman Jing Dunquan said in his speech that modern football was introduced in Xinjiang through the Silk Road, and spread to the whole country. Under the nation's policy of targeted poverty alleviation and "One Belt One Road", CSCLF would support Xinjiang, the core region on the Silk Road economic belt.

The relation between CSCLF and the teenager football development in Xinjiang goes back to the past. The foundation and Xinjiang Sports Bureau established China's first professional football school named after Soong Ching-ling in November, 2002. It also provided financial and material support to the development of teenager football sport in Xinjiang, explored its new development mode, and formed a long-term supporting mechanism to its development.

After the ceremony, female football teams from local schools had an excellent match. After the match, officials and guests posed for a group photo with team members, encouraging them to work hard on both studies and football, and trying their best to contribute to China's female football development.

Backgrounder: CSCLF started to cooperate with One World Play Project (OWPP) and Jack Brewer Foundation to launch the "One World Football Program" in 2014, donating 100,000 special footballs sponsored by Chevrolet to primary and secondary schools in part of China's less-developed regions, which aimed to support their development of sports courses and improve their development of teenager football sport.
