A Teenager Vision Care Public Welfare Project supported by China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF) JLR Chinese Teenager Dream Fund, organized a professional team on ophthalmology medical care to Guizhou from May 4 to 7, 2016. They provided vision check, got the right lenses for eyeglasses, performed surgeries for teenagers, and trained physicians for free in Bijie. Their work brought hope of resuming eyesight and pursuing dreams to teenagers with eye diseases. The activity had got great support from Guizhou Provincial Health and Family Planning Commision, Bijie Municipal Health Bureau and Education Bureau, and Jaguar Land Rover (China) Public Limited Corporation.

During the event, expert team from Tongren Hospital provided eye health examination to students in Bijie Middle School. Experts answered students' questions patiently, and gave a lecture on eye protection. At the same time, the team also selected experts to perform surgeries and provide treatment to many students suffered from serious eye diseases in Bijie Municipal Hospital, which were welcomed by the local government and students' parents.

Later the 2016 Teenager Vision Care Project Work Meeting was held in Bijie. Health officials from Yunnan, Xinjiang and Guizhou and related departments participated the meeting. The sponsors of the event first expressed their gratitude to the work of related department, and hoped they could establish an ophthalmology public welfare database and provide professional support to local health departments and hospitals through the implementation of the project. Local health and family planning commissions and related hospitals also shared their experiences of implementing the project in 2014 and 2015 to representatives of Guizhou, which served as good references to the future implementation of the project in Guizhou.
