Historic city of Chengde hosts royal lantern fair
|
Over 2000 lanterns cover an area of 180 thousand square meters here. And amongst the decorations some romantic re-enactments take place, including the emperor’s marriage ceremony and a unique match-making activity- a princess throwing a ball at her favoured suitor.
And the event is not short of fun for kids either. Unusually shaped lanterns, including animals, insects and cartoon characters, keep them entertained. There are also no end of photo opportunities for the parents and their children.
