Job Resume
Prof. Yonghua Song was born in Jan. 1964. He received the B.S. degree from Chengdu University of Science and Technology in 1984, and the M.S. and Ph. D degrees from Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) of China in 1987 and 1989 respectively. From March 1991 to Feb 1992, he was Royal Society Visiting Fellow of School of Mathematics, University of Bristol, UK. From Feb 1992 to Sept 1993, he was the research officer of School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering. Until 1994 he has been the Lecturer of School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Bath, UK. From 1997 to present, he is the Professor of Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering, Brunel University, UK. From Jan 1997 to Dec 2001, he was the Royal Academy of Engineering/Nuclear Electric/Siemens Chair of Power Systems. He is a Yangtze River Scholarship chair professor of Xian Jiaotong University in 2001. Prof. Song has been engaged in the researches in power system analysis area for many years and his research interests are Flexible Alternating Current Transmission Systems(FACTS) control and steady-state and transient state power system analysis, Intelligent simulation and analysis of power system, and power market.
Academy and Scientific Findings
Form 1994, Prof. Song has authored/co-authored over 300 papers that include over 100 journal papers, and several books. There are 60 papers included in SCI and 160 papers are included in EI separately. Prof. Song was elected IEE Fellow in 2002. He is Science Advisor to Macao government and visiting professor of Tsinghua University. He also is external Assessor of Chinese Academy of Sciences and GOLD Chair and Executive Committee Member of the IEEE UK and Ireland Section. From 2001 to present, he is United Nation Development Program (UNDP) expert for Chinese Power Industry Reform. He is honorary chief editor or guest editor or Member of Editorial Board for many international journals. From 1997, he was invited speaker for International Conferences, for example, IFAC'2003, Powercon'2002, Power Control'2000, Power Market'1999, IEE DPSP'UK (1997) etc., and invited speaker at universities in Canada, USA, Italy, Singapore, Hong Kong, Belgium, Japan and China.
