BEIJING, July 13 (Xinhuanet) -- In Shanghai, fans of comics and games from around China have converged at one of the biggest domestic events in the animation industry. Let's take a look at some highlights from the 6th China International Animation and Games Expo.
Comic book figures have come alive at the Expo. Animation fans are dressed up for cos-plays in support of their favorite animated characters. But joining the fun is not as simple as buying a ticket. All 40 teams are winners of a nationwide selection process.
A cosplay performer said, "We are students. We don't have a big budget, so we made all the costumes ourselves. But that's the fun of cosplay."
And it's not only the students that are enchanted by the charm of animation; it's the parents, too, who come to learn and share in the fun with their children.
A parent said, "I think the experience is good for fostering kids' creativity, especially regarding images and pictures."
The five-day expo is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and organized by the Shanghai municipal government. For the first time, the event combines the former two expositions of animation and video games to offer a better and larger professional platform for insiders and fans of the industry.
