Snow-sites in Chengdu In this issue, we will continue to recommend the best choices for enjoying snow sights because there are so many such places in Chengdu.
Longchi
Longchi is located at Longxi Village in the northwest of Dujiangyan City, 84 kilometers away from Chengdu and 34 kilometers away from Dujiangyan. The altitude of the spot is not high and the upward road is also not steep, but some places are very slippery or covered with thick snow, so visitors should be careful when walking (the author once broke her shoe heel there). On the top, there are a large piece of flat snow land where visitors can throw snowballs, make snowman and ski freely. The snow-sights of Longchi mainly lie in Longchi Lake, Longwang Temple, Taixian Garden and Xiangshui Cave.
Traffic guide: start from Chengdu, drive along Yangxi Road to Chengguan Expressway, and enter Longchi Scenic Spot via 213 Road and the construction site of Zipingpu irrigation works. If you go by bus, take scheduled bus to Dujiangyan at Chadianzi Bus Station, and then transfer bus to Longchi at Yutang Bus Station in Dujiangyan.
Expenses: entrance ticket for Longchi is RMB22 per visitor, but it may rise during the ice and snow festival; single-way toll, RMB20; bus ticket from Chadianzi to Dujiang, RMB16; ropeway, RMB16 for upward and RMB14 for downward; transferring bus (from the parking lot to the entrance of ropeway), RMB20 for round-trip; skiing at ski field, about RMB60 per hour. There are some other entertainment programs, such as snow motor.
After enjoying the snow sights, visitors can also taste some special local-made dishes, such as pig leg stewing with yam, chicken stewing with gingko nut.
Xiling Snow Mountain
Xiling Snow Mountain is located at Dayi County, and 95 kilometers away from Chengdu. It continued to drop heavy snows for several days, so the ground is covered with 20cm or 30cm-thick snow and the ski field is as thick as 60 cm. At present, Xiling Snow Mountain has started its network snow-making system and mobile snow-making machine, so as to ensure that all visitors can enjoy the pleasure of ski. Fire balloon on the snow mountain and snow motor are also interesting and exciting.
Traffic guide: starting from Chengdu, the conditions of all roads are very good and it takes only 2 hours to get at the scenic spot. There are scheduled bus to Dayi County at Jinsha Bus Station and non-stop bus to Xiling Snow Mountain at Dayi County. Entrance ticket: RMB80 per visitor
Hailuogou
Hailuogou Scenic Spot is located at the foot of Gongga Mountain, 55 kilometers away to the south of Kangding County seat, and famous for its low-altitude glaciers. There visitors can enjoy glaciers rushing down from the high and steep gorges, gigantic ice caves, arduous ice bridges and some other sights. To the world’s surprise, there are 90℃ boiling springs and hot-spring falls in the glacier world. Visitors can have a bathe in warm hot springs while enjoying the snow sights. Traffic guide: take bus there at Xinnanmen Bus Station, about RMB80 per person, enter on even-numbered day and out on odd-numbered day. Or take scheduled bus to Luding and sleep there, and then take bus to Moxi at 7:00 next morning.
Self-driver has two choices: 1. Drive to Ya’an along Chengya Expressway, and then enter the scenic spot via Tianquan County and Erlangshan Tunnel; the total journey is 322 kilometers and takes about 6-8 hours. 2. Drive to Ya’an along Chengya Expressway, and then enter the scenic spot via Shimian County and Niba Mountain; the total journey is 468 kilometers and takes about one
