Dunhuang Local Lifestyle
Located in the north of China, the dining custom of Dunhuang local people is to prefer wheaten foods (Lanzhou Lamian Noodels are well-known in China, and the roasted whole lamb as there are vast grassland within the area. Meanwhile, local people also love to eat grapes as Dunhuang is the second largest grape-producing area after Xinjiang's Turpan.
During the peak tourist season (from June to October), the Dunhuang Hotel arranges performances of song and dances from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. every evening, known as the "Summer of Dunhuang". The show is mean to be a complete reflection of the culture of the Silk Road. There, you can see examples of the folk art of the Muslim, Tibetan, Uigur and Mongolian peoples of China's "wild west".
The night life and entertainment is colorful among local people, the famous parties and shows include: Film Studio Show, Play of Dunhuang, Flying Angels Paradise, South Building, Dunhuang Hotel and Campfire Party, etc.
As the oasis is located in the desert, all the local people assembled and built the city. Their life, too, is like the oasis in a drought region.
