The largest public museum in Russia houses more than three million works of art and artifacts from world culture. It also has the world’s largest collection of paintings, among other art forms including graphic works and sculptures. The vast museum is composed of six architecture structures - the Winter Palace, the former state residence of the Russian emperors, the buildings of the Small, Old (Great) and New Hermitages, the Hermitage Theatre and the Auxiliary House.
