Pupils attend first writing ceremony at Confucius Temple in Jiangsu

A teacher gives first-graders a red dot on their foreheads (which is called opening the wisdom eye) during the first writing ceremony at Fuzimiao, or the Confucius Temple, in Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu province, Sept. 1, 2013. In total 370 first-graders of Fuzimiao elementary school in Nanjing participated in the first writing ceremony Sunday. The ceremony is a traditional education activity for children in China.
