Little messengers of mutual learning between Thailand and China
The first "little messengers of mutual learning" exchange activity between an overseas Chinese school and Hainan province was launched on November 18. The event was held simultaneously in Haikou, China and Hat Yai, Thailand online. Xiao Meiling, a student from Khunnatham Wittaya School in Thailand, was awarded the title of "little messenger of mutual learning" in the final event.
"I am a Thai student and the mysterious culture of China attracts me a lot," Xiao said in her final competition speech with the title "China Dream, My Dream", in which she mentioned that she started her initial Chinese education with simple horizontal and vertical strokes, and as she learned more about the content, China gave her unlimited imagination. She said that she had become more and more fond of Chinese culture and hoped to have the opportunity to study in China in the future.
Zhang Jungui, president of the Thai-Chinese Overseas Chinese Association in Thailand Songkhla Province, said that the event played a positive role in teaching Thai children about Hainan and be helping them fall in love with the city. He wished to have an opportunity to let the students from southern Thailand and Hainan talk face to face in the near future, and let the Thai youth see China with their own eyes. Through these ways, the Thai students will be able to love their home country more, and introduce the Chinese story to their Thai classmates.
Zhu Yuhua, the second-level inspector of Hainan Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, said that Hainan is currently building a free trade port and an international education and innovation island. She hoped that all overseas folks and young people of Chinese descent can take this opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Hainan, to study and develop their careers in Hainan in the future, and to be friendly messengers of mutual learning of Thai and Chinese civilizations.
