'Embrace China-Stories for You' 2022 summer camp opens online
"Embrace China-Stories for You" 2022 Sabah-Fujian summer camp opened on September 6. More than 300 youths from Sabah, Malaysia, took online courses in three days, including on the previous and present life of Malaysian Chinese, traditional Fujian Hakka culture, Quanzhou folk culture and so on, experiencing the special intangible cultural heritages and new media technologies.
Chen Shihai, vice-president of All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and president of Fujian Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, delivered an online speech at the opening ceremony of the camp, introducing the carefully prepared courses. The courses were rich in local cultural characteristics, aiming to help the students learn more about the culture of Fujian from multiple perspectives.
Huang Shifang, consul-general of China in Kota Kinabalu, said at the ceremony that on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China, this activity would enhance the understanding of traditional Chinese customs among Malaysia youngsters, promote the excellent Chinese traditional culture, and further develop cultural exchanges between the two countries.
The camp was organized by All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, and jointly hosted by Fujian Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Quanzhou Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Quanzhou Vocational and Technical University, Sabah Malaysia-China Friendship Association, Kota Kinabalu Hokkien Huay Kuan, and co-organized and supported by a number of organizations in China and Malaysia.
