2022 Soong Ching Ling Future Science Day for Young People launches in Beijing

The China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF) on Aug. 21 inaugurated Soong Ching Ling Future Science Day for Young People at China Science and Technology Museum (CSTM). During the event, the 17th Soong Ching Ling Childre's Invention Award was announced.

The 17th Soong Ching Ling Children's Invention Award received over 20,000 works from more than 30,000 students from 3,800 schools in China, Malaysia and the Philippines. This year, 423 works were honored across four categories. Among them, there were 265 awards for inventions, 99 awards for artificial intelligence and coding works, 29 awards for creative projects, and 30 awards for scientific and technological paintings. The twins Chu Siyu and Chu Siqi from Beijing, who won the prize for their inventions, presented their work "A trash sorting bin that can hear and talk".

The Soong Ching Ling Children's Invention Award is the sole competition named after a national leader, approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology, and recognized by the Ministry of Education as a national sci-tech competition targeting primary and middle school students. The event has been held 17 times and attracted more than 1 million primary and secondary school students.
