Guangxi holds Spring Festival celebration for overseas Chinese

Representatives of overseas Chinese organizations participate in the Spring Festival celebrations.

A Spring Festival celebration was held in South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region on Jan 22, for the celebration of the biggest Chinese festival of the year.

More than 80 thousand overseas Chinese celebrated the festival online and offline, including native overseas Guangxi people, Chinese language school teachers, Chinese youth representatives from Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia and more than 20 other countries. More than 10 overseas Chinese groups and schools set up video sessions.

Guangxi folk dance and Chinese martial arts let the audience appreciate the unique features of Chinese culture. Ma Changlin, president of the Polish Guangxi General Chamber of Commerce, performed the piano and flute ensemble Jasmine Flower. Teachers from the Guangxi Overseas Chinese School led children to take part in Chinese calligraphy, paper cutting and other arts and crafts.

According to authorities, the Overseas Chinese Office of Guangxi helped to host various activities to showcase Chinese culture and create an atmosphere for celebrating the Spring Festival for overseas Chinese at home and abroad. More than 30 overseas Chinese groups and Chinese language schools responded positively, sending videos expressing good wishes and holding various activities related to Chinese culture, including painting, writing, pasting couplets, cutting window cuts, lion and dragon dances and cooking.
