Winter Olympics youth painting exhibition held in Thailand
The opening ceremony of a Thai children's art exhibition titled "Together with Beijing Winter Olympics" was held in Bangkok, Thailand. Officials from the Chinese embassy in Thailand, theThai Ministry of Culture and representatives of participating painters attended the ceremony and visited the exhibition.
Under the guidance of the embassy, the China Tourism Office in Bangkok held the youth painting contest last September to arouse the passions of the Thai people, especially the young generation, for ice and snow sports.
At the exhibition, nearly 180 award-winning works from the contest were displayed. An exhibition of Winter Olympics paintings was also held in order to tell the story of preparations for the Games in a more comprehensive way.
The exhibition was decorated with mascots Bing Dwen Dwen and Shuey Rhon Rhon as well as Chinese knots and lanterns, incorporating elements of the Spring Festival with the Olympics. In order to increase the interactivity of the exhibition, photo boards of winter sports were set up for the audience to take pictures.
At the ceremony, Chang Yumeng, cultural counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, along with officials from the Thai Ministry of Culture, gave Bing Dwen Dwen and Shuey Rhon Rhon dolls as Spring Festival presents to the representatives of the winners. They invited Thai youngsters to work for a shared future and cheer for athletes from both countries.
