League of Guangxi and ASEAN Chinese schools established to promote Chinese education
A meeting of five schools and overseas Chinese education model schools was held online from Dec 19 to 20. More than 100 teachers from 15 schools in ASEAN countries met online and discussed development trends in Chinese education in the new era. The meeting proposed a "League of Guangxi and ASEAN Chinese Schools" to build a community for Chinese education. The proposal was widely supported by ASEAN Chinese schools.
Since the outbreak of COVID-19, the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office in Guangxi spared no efforts to send more than 20 thousand masks to teachers and 39 Chinese schools in ASEAN countries. The office also encouraged teachers to give their classes online.
Xiaohui Guo, vice president of the Chinese Teachers Association of Thailand, said: "The 'League of Guangxi and ASEAN Chinese Schools' is a platform for fast and efficient communication. Chinese teachers and experts could interact on time without gathering, which is fit for this period. " He hoped the league could spread advanced concepts of Chinese education to more Chinese schools.
Yumning Huang, president of the Ohongsen Hing Chung Public School in Tai Kim, Cambodia thought the league would be greatly beneficial for the development of Chinese education, by sharing successful teaching experiences and helping teachers develop their skills.
Lijuan Ma, chairman of Sa Wan Naji Sunde School in Laos, said the school now still lacks Chinese teacher, textbooks and multimedia equipment. She hopes the establishment of a league could enhance the school's teaching quality.
At the meeting, teachers and experts discussed two topics: The renovation of Chinese education's form and promotion of online education's quality, and the development trend of education models of Chinese teaching in the post-epidemic era.
