Updated: 2012-11-23 10:08

The Old Summer Palace, known in China as Yuanmingyua, is a world-renowned royal garden and palace. Due to the abundant invaluable treasures preserved within its walls, it could be dubbed one of the largest museums in the world.

On Dec. 12, the Old Summer Palace will go to Berlin in the form of the ‘Yuanmingyuan Culture Exhibition in Berlin’, which will open at the China Culture Center in Berlin and last one month.

The launch ceremony for the exhibition was held on Nov 22 in China’s Ministry of Culture.

Organized by the China International Culture Association, co-organized by several other organizations, the exhibition is the first overseas show of Yuanmingyuan.

Divided into three sections - “brilliance in the past," "changes and vicissitudes," and "revitalization” - it features more than 200 photographs, digital multimedia movies that utilize 3D technology and replicas of precious relics and architecture from Yuanmingyuan, the vast majority of which are on display for the first time.

The exhibition will be held to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Germany, and is also part of the "Chinese Culture Year" in Germany.
