NEW DELHI, April 26 (Xinhua) -- A grand and breath-taking gala performance by young artists and magicians from China's Sichuan Province officially opened the week-long Experience China-Sichuan Week in the Indian capital here Tuesday evening.

The opening ceremony of Sichuan Week, which is being organized by the Chinese government, has brought a variety of gifts to the Indian people, including the best dances, music, traditional opera, magics and singing to an audience which were greatly touched and astonished by such extraordinary performances.

The Governor of Sichuan Province Jiang Jufeng, said in his inauguration speech that his 200-strong delegation was implementing a communique signed by Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh last December to promote friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

He said he was glad there were so many Indians and other foreign friends who were enjoying the performances by the artists from China.

Indian Minister of Statistics and Program Implementation M.S. Gill said that India and China are good neighbors for thousands of years and he was glad that Sichuan has brought a part of the great Chinese culture to India to promote the interactions between the two great civilizations of Asia.

The performances presented by Sichuan Provincial Singing and Dancing Troupe included Jubilation, Charm of Bashu Arts -- Mask Changing and Giant Puppet, Wushu: Rhythm of Martial Art, Acrobatics: Ballet on Hand Palm, and Tibetan Dance Batang Xianzi.
