This Children's Day had a special significance for 180 Muslim children at the Malay welfare center in Bukit Beruntung, Malaysia due to a visit by a group of people from different countries and religions.

Chen Wei, wife of the Chinese ambassador to Malaysia, as well as more than 20 women and young ambassadors visited the welfare home for Malay children in the afternoon of June 1. Many other officials attended, including Mastiana, wife of the minister of state for Selangor, a Malaysian state, as well as MP from Selangor, and several wives of the state's legislators. They had a great time with the children, celebrating Children’s Day and breaking the Ramadan fast.

Chen praised the children as the future and hope of Malaysia and encouraged them to study hard to achieve their dreams. She also expressed her hope that the children can visit China and make friends with Chinese people. Mastiana spoke highly of the visit and its significance in promoting not only the understanding of cultures and religions of China and Malaysia, but the friendship between the two countries.

Two teachers from the Confucius Institute at the University of Malaya were invited by the Embassy to give the children lessons in the art of blowing ink on paper plates to make plum blossoms, as well as calligraphy. The diplomatic guests also taught the children to make handicrafts. The children showed great interest in Chinese culture and made many excellent works. Chen and Mastiana jointly created a calligraphic banner that read 'China-Malaysia Friendship', which embodies the expectation of the two sides for the friendship to be passed on from generation to generation.

In addition, the Embassy prepared gifts for all teachers and children in the welfare home. In return, the children sang three Eid songs for the visitors. The welfare home's staff said that although they are from different countries and religions, the warmth the Chinese Embassy offered was very touching. They also expressed their hope that the friendship between the two countries will last forever and further benefit the local people.
