The Ministry of Culture is carrying out a plan to support animation works that carry socialist core values forward. This plan aims at facilitating the production of more animation works that embody the spirit of Chinese culture and reflect Chinese aesthetic pursuits.

The Cultural Industry Department under the Chinese Ministry of Culture issued a notice in August informing culture bureaus and departments at provincial, regional and municipal levels of the online application. The application process came to a close in late October and more than 200 works were selected for evaluation. To achieve better results, the 2014 plan features the theme of “animation tells the Party’s stories” and offers more support to the works that favors traditional revolutionary education and promotes Chinese traditional culture and excellent folk culture.

According to a Cultural Industry Department official, the plan is in the stage of evaluating and screening now; it will further its support of the selected works by developing different publicity channels such as mainstream media and new media, and utilizing various promotional forms such as an exhibition fair and campus presentation.

The 2014 plan aims to give full play to animation and expand its influence on all levels of society, especially adolescents. It also shows the government supports animation works that promote socialist core values.
