The 12th China International Digital Content Expo was held at the Beijing Exhibition Center from Oct 17 to 20. The event was sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality and co-organized by Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture. The Chinese minister of culture, Cai Wu, visited the expo and explored the development of the online culture industry on Oct 17.

Cai said that the cartoon and animation industry depends on both technology and content. Besides focusing on the innovation of technology, good content should be paid attention to. The story of animation products should generate positive energy and spread socialist core values to promote the sound development of the industry. The standard of cartoons and animations and the way to show these products should meet the requirement of people as like children. If people don’t love them, they have no value.

Cai added that profits from the cartoon and animation industry feature two characteristics, one from technology patents and intellectual property rights and the other from derivative products.

Authors and producers of cartoons and animations should keep a clear mind in the market and draw a line against over commercialization.

The expo is divided into seven sections: talent support, interactive entertainment, digital and Internet new technology, animation gaming, animation interactive experience, animation game carnival and local industrial parks. More than 175 famed foreign and domestic online cultural enterprises attended the exhibition.

As an important part of the expo, the forums, including big data of online culture forum, development of cartoon and animation industry forum, game forum and TVGAME forum, were held to discuss hot issues in the online culture industry under the guidance of government.

Officials from the cultural departments and leaders from related cultural enterprises attended the expo.
