Taiwan collector Andy Yeh donated 32 Buddha statues, consisting of 23 Buddha heads and nine complete statues, to the Wuqing district of Tianjin. They're now trying to find out the hometowns of these statues. A joint collaboration of archaeologists from both sides of the Taiwan Straits has resulted in the return of two complete statues, which have inscriptions indicating their origin, to their home temples in Henan and Anhui provinces. As for the other statues, experts say they can only gauge their rough identity that points to a general place and time period of origin. Therefore, the Wuqing administration has been trying to call upon the public for possible clues by working with regional media and establishing a website displaying the photos of the statues.
