Tang Poetry: Qingming

By Du Mu (Tang Dynasty)

 (Source: www.ptsx.cn)

It drizzles endlessly during Clear and Bright;

Travelers along the road look gloomy and heartbroken.

Where can I find a tavern to get some rest?

A shepherd boy points to a hamlet amid the apricot blossoms in the distance.

About the poem: During the Tomb-Sweeping Day period, the poet cannot go home to visit graves and worship his ancestors. He lives in a strange city and feels lonely. It drizzles all the live-long day. Everything is gloomy! He wants to find a tavern to get some rest and relieve his home stickiness, so he asks a shepherd boy for the answer.
