The memory of China sealed for 80 years (part 1): rare photos of the Battle of Shanghai taken by Hyland Lyon

However, Lyon had a wide range of contacts with Chinese rulers and concession authorities. He was the only one who got permission to take photos in the concessions, although he could not publish those pictures as he promised. This group of pictures is finally open now, which completes a piece of history that never comes easy.
