Linggu Pagoda

Linggu Pagoda, the tallest and most beautiful in Nanjing, has nine stories and is made of reinforced concrete and granite from Suzhou. Formerly named the Memorial Tower of the Dead Soldiers, it was constructed in 1931 and is an important component in the architecture complex of Tomb of the Dead Soldiers. This 66-meter-high pagoda is original in style and each floor is covered with green glazed glass. Each story is surrounded by corridors made of granite and a 252-step spiral staircase in the middle leads to the top of the pagoda. The pagoda is graceful in its design and beautiful in shape, and full of ethnic features, so it is spoken highly of by people from all fields of architectural study.
