Huagudeng, or Flower Drum Dance, is a folk art form including singing, dancing, gong and drum striking and acting that is popular in east China's Huaihe River Basin. Having a history of more than eight hundred years, Flower Drum Dance was listed as one of the national intangible cultural heritages in 2006. Huaiyuan, one of the origin of the art form, has produced lots of famous performers, among whom is Shi Chuncai, who has been named national inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage. Now with a hope to pass the art form to younger generations, Huaiyuan has established a training center for Flower Drum Dance in a local school, where teachers has trained more than five hundred performers of Flower Drum Dance.
