Chinese soprano Tang Can has become the first Chinese to perform a solo concert in Greece.
The Chinese folk singer performed at the Athens Concert Hall on the night of July 10.
The performance was meant to resonate some of the spirit for this year's Olympic Games in the country that gave birth to the Olympics.
Under the baton of the veteran Chinese conductor Shao En, Tang Can sang to the accompaniment of the Athens Symphony Orchestra. Together they performed a varied selection of music, from folk to pop to ballads.
Hong Kong host David Wu and a Greek hostess emceed the show. Tang Can shared the stage with several invited guest artists from China and Greece.
During this Olympic year, Greece, where the last Summer Olympics were held, is sponsoring a "Year of Greece", staging shows all over China.
Tang's Athens concert is reciprocal. The concert was jointly sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Culture and the Beijing Olympics Organizing Committee.
