Children’s Art Festival to debut at Singapore in June

In the hope of strengthening Sino-Singapore art and cultural exchanges at the children’s level, the Chinese Cultural Center will host the Children’s Art Festival in June and July. A variety of activities, including an artistic performance, exhibitions and seminar, will be presented. Also, the China National Theatre for Children (CNTC), supporting the festival, will prepare a play in Singapore.

Here is the activity schedule:

1. Art Performance

Date: June 25-26

Morning Session: 10:30 am

Afternoon Session: 3 pm (Each play lasts about one hour)

Two dramas,Super Change, Change, Chang and Chinese Idiom Story will be combined into one show, Chinese Idiom Story•Super Change, Change, Change.

The event aims to promote Chinese traditional culture, spread happiness, pass on knowledge and encourage an appreciation for drama among children. Meanwhile, the new drama takes on the form of child’s play and each part is presented as an independent chapter. Many well-known Chinesefables will be adapted for the drama. With the help ofspecialeffects on stage, the performance can enlighten children as well as carry forward China’s civilization.

2. Art Exhibition

Date and time: June 25, 9:30 am

Facilitated by the Center of International Cultural Exchange, Chinese Cultural Center in Singapore, an interactive show, Dreamland: Face to Face with Chinese Children’s Art Classics, will debut in Singapore.

Singaporean children will have more access to excellent Chinese children’s plays.

3. Art Forum

Date and time: June 27, 10 am

Organized by CNTC and the Chinese Cultural Center in Singapore, the China-Singapore Children's Theater Exchange Forum will be held in June. Renowned children’sdrama specialists will come together to discuss the creation and development of children’s plays. Bilateral cooperation and exchanges are expected to continue in the future.

4. Other activities

 1) Chinese Idiom Story•Super Change, Change, Change will holda campusshow on June 27 in the afternoon.

2) Singapore art institutes will be invited to perform at the Chinese Cultural Center. There will be a performance by the Tianjin Little Star Peking Opera Troupe (July 9-10) Performance of the Treasure Borrowed from the Dragon Palace (July 19-22)

 3) Workshop Activity (Participants: players and directors from CNTC)

4) Book Fair (June 20- July 20)

Publishing presses, including Juvenile & Children’s Publishing House,Shanghai Education Publishing House, Shanghai Literature and Art Publishing Group, Shanghai People’s Fine Arts Publishing House, East China Normal University Press and Fudan University Press, will showcase and have for sale more than 1,000 quality children’s books.
