Beijing pupil invents crash-proof device

What can a student invent? Well the inventions may be quite surprising. The guiding systems for the blind, a solar food box, carpet alarm and other creative works on display in Guangzhou are among the 267 inventions selected for the Soong Ching Ling Young Inventor Award give us an insight into the latest scientific achievements of Chinese youth.

Many of the inventions may be widely applied in real life. For example, two middle school students from Guangzhou invent a food storage system powered by solar energy that can be used for picnicking. Another , a crash-proof device invented by a Beijing pupil, can be automatically activated when the system detect objects within a certain distance.

The Soong Ching Ling Young Inventor Award was initiated by the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation and organized by the China Invention Association. It is sponsored by the Clifford Group. The 2015 competition attracted 2,207 entries, 267 of which entered the short list. In the end, 255 pieces were honored for their inventiveness and 12 for creativeness.
