The China Philharmonic Orchestra successfully made its debut by introducing Chinese elements in music at the final concert of this year’s BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Sept 13.

Chen Qingang’s Joie éternelle and the performance of young pianist Zhang Haochen pushed the concert to an exciting climax. Another Chinese pianist, Zuo Zhang, made her remarkable debut at a free Proms concert on Aug. 25. And on Sept 2, the concerts hit a high note with Zhou Long’s Postures, which integrates Chinese kung fu and tap potentials between Chinese traditional instruments and percussion in a western orchestra.

As one of the most spectacular musical proms, BBC Proms has had a great effect on the development of music for 120 years.
