Cairo Cup youth martial arts competition opened in Egypt

The competition’s opening ceremony drew a crowd.

With the assistance of the Chinese Cultural Center in Cairo, the Cairo Cup Youth Martial Arts Competition opened in Egypt on Aug 14, attracting more than 800 martial art athletes and enthusiasts from around the country. Hosted by the Egyptian Martial Arts Association, the six-day competition is divided into several groups by age, ranging from 6 to 18. On the opening day, two matches in the age 6 group and the age 8 group were held.

In recent years, martial arts have become more and more popular in Egypt. Not only is the number of students at the Chinese Cultural Center increasing, but martial arts clubs are spreading throughout the country. Many people from Alexandria and Faiyum always receive use information about martial arts from the China Culture Center and take part in different activities.
