Hong Kong director Chen Kexin walked away with Best Director Outside the Mainland for American Dreams in China, while Best Actress was shared by Zhang Ziyi and Yan Bingyan. Mark Chao won Best Actor Outside the Mainland. The Best Actor gong was shared by Liu Zhibing for Royalty and Betrayal and Huang Xiaoming for American Dreams in China.

"I’m very glad that American Dreams of China is liked by audiences. I didn’t expect it do so well at the box office and get such good feedback during shooting. The film inspires people to realize their own dreams. I hope more and more people will support middle or small budget films. Such films are the trend nowadays," said Huang.

Organized by the State Administration of Radio Film and Television, the judging panel is comprised of film critics and officials. Small budget films like American Dreams in China and So Young shone brightly on the winning list, praised for both their artistic value and commercial success. From the winning list, we can also see young directors are emerging, who have contributed a lot to the Chinese film scene over the past two years.
