Screen Australia, the key Federal Government direct funding body for the Australian screen production industry, has recently announced its funding recipients, 12 documentary production companies for the second round of its Enterprise Asia program. The companies will join an Australian screen industry delegation to visit China's Beijing and Chengdu for commercial opportunities, from November 12 to 18.

The program supports screen businesses that have viable plans to shoot films and build up corporate relationships in Asia, including the development of targeted co-productions, seeking co-financing from partners such as local broadcasters, or establishing partnerships with other production companies.

During their visit, the delegation will conduct business negociations and various exchanges with Chinese governments, broadcasters and producers, and will attend the Sichuan TV Festival (SCTVF) that takes place in Chengdu from November 16 to 18.

"We’re seeing heightened engagement between China and the international screen industry, and Australian producers, naturally great collaborators, is at the forefront of that engagement," said Chris Oliver, leader of the delegation and Screen Australia’s Senior Manager of State and Industry Partnerships.

There is a terrific potential for Australian screen businesses to work with the Chinese television counterparts. Our relationships with governments, broadcasters and the production sector in China are well established, presenting real opportunities for collaboration, Oliver added.
