Swiss watchmaker Blancpain recently announced its collaboration with Chinese journalist Wu Xiaobo (center). The brand's vice president and marketing director Alain Delamuraz has appointed him Blancpain Culture Ambassador. Wu, a journalism graduate from Fudan University, is one of the best-known financial reporters in the country. He is also the publisher of Blue Lion, a publishing house founded in 2002 devoted to financial books. Wu has also been awarded the title of China Youth Leader by the influential magazine Southern People Weekly. Blancpain has expanded its collaboration with various important persons in the Chinese cultural industry, including Liang Wendao, social commentator from Phoenix TV, and Feng Yuanzheng, famous TV series and theater actor.
Carnival for outdoor sports
The North Face outdoor sports carnival was held in Beijing recently, attracting hundreds of outdoor sports fans to skate, climb, and hike. The carnival has been collaborating with Gore-Tex, a company that produces waterproof and breathable fabric, for many years. This year, Gore-Tex has set up Gore Outdoor Camp, in which participants can learn from professionals about some basic skills for outdoor sports. Speakers included outdoor first-aid professional Sun Lingye, travel photographer Guan Shanfeidu, and triathlete Dang Qi.

Local fast fashion brand Meters/bonwe has announced it will use new technology in its latest collection-New Heat Nanotechnology Padding. The padding, which uses nano-carbon fiber extracted from coffee, can absorb heat from outside radiation. Researchers from the company have found that this padding can rise 5 C degrees higher than duvets under the same light source. The label has used it in its latest down jackets, which has 68 different colors. Fashionistas can feel warm and stylish at the same time.
Little treats for swish mall
Parkview Green Fangcaodi, a high-end shopping mall in Beijing, celebrated its first anniversary with an eye-dazzling show from Cirque du Soleil. Many luxury labels produced exclusive products for the special occasion, including jeweler Van Cleef & Arpels, and watchmaker Wempe. British fashion label Stella McCartney presented their 2013 fall/winter fashion preview, and French leather house Camille Fournet created special gifts.

Japanese luxury label Issey Miyake has opened its first boutique in Beijing's Shin Kong Place, marking its entry into the Chinese mainland market. Issey Miyake held an eye-dazzling show as part of its opening party, wowing attendees with actress Chen Shu and pianist Zhao Yinyin. The label was founded in Japan in the 1970s. It is known for its understated elegance in its women's wear and perfume lines. Its present head designer is Yoshiyuki Miyamae.
