Overseas Chinese in San Francisco toast to upcoming Chinese National Day

San Francisco, Sept. 27 (People's Daily Online) -Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco hosted a reception on September 27 to celebrate the 64th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China with hundreds of overseas Chinese.

Consul General Yuan Nansheng and San Francisco mayor Edwin M. Lee toasted overseas Chinese and local government officials to celebrate the upcoming Chinese National Day.

Mr. Yuan said at the ceremony that the past decades has witnessed the great changes happening in China since the reform and opening-up policy was implemented. The relationship between China and the United States has also strengthened with frequent economic and cultural exchanges. He expressed respect and thanks to governments, legislatures and friends of all sectors in San Francisco bay area for their contribution to enhance China-US relationship and efforts to promote China-San Francisco cooperation.

He said that it has been 176 days since he worked in San Francisco as the Consul General in April this year. He can tell people’s enthusiasm and sincerity to China.

San Francisco Mayor Lee sent his congratulations to the anniversary. He said that the event that the relationship between China and the United States is a wonderful support for the whole world. He said that he will lead a business delegation on a second tour of China in October. He said the economic and culture exchanges will “continue building strong foundation that we have”.

During his trip to China, the Golden Gate Warriors, San Francisco's NBA team, will bring two games to Chinese basketball fans respectively in Beijing and Shanghai on Oct 15 and Oct 18.
