  Overseas Chinese in South Africa celebrate 60th Anniversary of the PRC  
 


Chinese expatriates in Johannesburg, South Africa held a “National Day Cup” football match and a badminton match to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the motherland on August 8 and 10. General Consul Chen Yong and Si Hai, the executive chairman of the Organizing Committee of the National Day Celebration of Overseas Chinese in South Africa and president of the Southern African-Shanghai Friendship Association of Commerce and Industry, both attended the opening ceremony.

In his address, Chen expressed that the “National Day Cup” matches aim to display a healthy and positive image of overseas Chinese to local society. It’s also a significant opening of a series of celebration activities for the motherland as a National Day gift.

He also thanked the Organizing Committee of the National Day’s celebration events for their meticulous preparation, and the active participation of overseas Chinese in South Africa.

The series of other celebration activities will kick off later in Johannesburg.
