This gold coffin and a silver outer coffin date to the Tang Dynasty (618-907) and were discovered at the Qingshansi Site in northwest China’s Shaanxi province. The two pieces have a similar shape and a surface covered in decorative patterns adorned with pearls, jewels, crystal, and figures of Buddha’s disciples. This is an exquisite set of coffins with extraordinary craftsmanship.
