Wang Shuo, 33 years old, started the practice of META-Project with partner Zhang Jing and Max Fu in 2009.

Wang is a leading authority on hutongs. His office is in an old hutong and this is where he does his research and design.

For Wang, a hutong is like a forest: from the outside it all looks the same, but there is really lots going on under the trees. In his words, you have to understand it to be able to save it or make it better.

This philosophy of preservation is vital to his design.

Background:

The exhibition is titled as "Adaptation: architecture and change in China" and the curators are Marino Folin & MovingCities.

Wang Shuo in Beijing, Zhao Yang in Dali and Ruan Hao in Hangzhou are three of the young elites.
